Although traveling can frequently feel like a difficult experience, occasionally you will have an event that is memorable for all the right reasons. One of such experiences was my recent flight from Ontario International Airport (ONT) on Southwest Airlines ONT Terminal. Everything went easily, effectively, and amicably from the time I got to the terminal until my plane took off.
Although bigger Southern California airports like LAX frequently take precedence over Ontario International Airport, ONT is a hidden gem for travelers in the Inland Empire or nearby. I anticipated the typical mayhem and long queues when I arrived early for my flight. Rather, I discovered easy parking, open access, and a serene environment. With obvious signage directing you to the appropriate terminal and gates, the airport is quite easy to use.
ONT's Terminal 4, which is clean, contemporary, and surprisingly less congested than many big airports, is where Southwest Airlines is based. I liked how close everything felt, and it was easy to get from the parking lot to the station. After a short walk, I arrived at the check-in desks without having to navigate convoluted walkways or lengthy shuttles.
A kind employee at the Southwest check-in desk welcomed me right away and assisted me with bag tagging. It was easy and quick to use the self-service kiosks. It took less than ten minutes to complete the entire process, including dropping off my checked bag.
Security worked just as well. The TSA screening was quick, and the employees were kind and competent. This was the exact opposite of the lengthy, annoying security lineups I've encountered at other airports. I had more time to unwind before boarding because I was through and into the gate area sooner than I had expected.

The cleanliness and well-maintained condition of ONT's Terminal 4 was among my favorite features. There was more than enough space to rest and relax, even during the busiest morning hours, thanks to the large seating spaces. The terminal is nicely laid out, with lots of windows that let in natural light and make the space feel spacious and serene.
A couple good places to eat and get coffee were close to the gates. At a café right past security, I got a coffee and a breakfast sandwich, both of which were surprisingly delicious for an airport meal. Conveniently placed around the terminal were charging stations, vending machines, and hygienic restrooms.
Boarding and Departure: Organized and On Time
The open seating strategy of Southwest planes makes boarding a little unusual than with other planes, however the ONT crew managed it well. The gate agents maintained a nice speed and were amiable and knowledgeable. Passengers were led through the procedure in a systematic fashion, and announcements were unambiguous.
My flight departed without any problems and on schedule. With ample room on the jet bridge and no needless delays, the entire boarding process felt easy. It was evident that the flying team and ground crew were proficient in their roles and collaborated effectively to maintain timeliness.
I had an excellent overall experience flying with Southwest Airlines out of Terminal 4 at Ontario International Airport. It made me realize how much fun flying can be when everything is planned, the airport is tidy and easy to navigate, and the airline employees are kind and accommodating.
Every stage of the trip felt seamless, from the quick check-in to the cozy airport and the prompt departure. It helped me understand how important it is to fly out of smaller airports like ONT, especially when flying with reputable airlines like Southwest. Based on my experience, Southwest will remain one of my top airline options, and I will most certainly be flying from Ontario again.
